"Officers get there and through their preliminary investigation they found that the child ran through the parking lot with a vehicle that was coming and the child got ran over," said Officer Danny Bean with the Tulsa Police Department.

Police said the car drug the child 5-10 feet. The driver was reportedly assaulted by residents living in the complex and fled the scene for safety. Residents fired shots as the suspect left and hit the vehicle twice.

The driver reportedly said that multiple individuals approached in a threatening manner "as emotions were high," so they left the scene and called 911. The investigation remains ongoing.
