Shares of Hilton Worldwide Holdings and other hotel companies fell Wednesday after the hotel giant lowered its full-year earnings forecast and warned of softening leisure travel demand.

Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc. lowered its profit outlook, as the addition of new hotels to its global system failed to offset slower travel demand.

Hilton Worldwide lowered the upper end of its annual room revenue growth forecast on Wednesday, as some U.S. consumers cut back on domestic travel spending amid a drop in disposable income. Domestic travel demand in the U.

Hilton Worldwide Holdings (NYSE:HLT) lowered its outlook for the full year and expects to receive less income for each room as soft macroeconomic trends in the U.S. and China drives down demand for the hotel chain’s modestly-priced properties.

Hilton said its revenue growth won't quite reach forecasted heights this year because demand is softening (not cratering). The news arrived like room service: slightly delayed and not quite what was hoped for.
