Guerrilla Games has no urge to work on a new Killzone game as the studio prefers working on Horizon Zero Dawn instead.

Guerrilla Games ‘ decision to start working on Horizon: Zero Dawn series was a deliberate choice to move away from the Killzone series, its art director says.

The Killzone franchise launched in 2004 for the PS2 and the last entry in the sci-fi shooter series arrived on PS4 as a launch title in the form of Killzone Shadow Fall. Beginning in 2017, Guerrilla Games shifted focus to Horizon Zero Dawn, and later followed this up with Horizon Forbidden West.

Horizon Zero Dawn and its successors are very different games to Guerrilla Games' FPS series, Killzone, and according to the studio's art director, it was purposely made to be "the opposite" in order to "refresh the palette."

Additionally, a report from last month stated that Guerrilla's next game will be Horizon Online instead of a third entry in the single-player series. That one would then arrive afterward, potentially many years down the line. That adds to the idea Guerrilla won't be touching Killzone anytime soon.
