Funding for construction of a new downtown arena, largely through a temporary one-cent sales tax between 2028 and 2034, was overwhelmingly approved by OKC voters in December 2023. Ownership of the OKC Thunder team have agreed to contribute $50 million toward the construction, expected to cost a minimum of $900 million overall.
