A reignited campfire was found to have been the cause of the Hawthorne brush fire that has been raging since Monday.“From their investigation it looks like it was not malicious by any means. It looks like someone was up there camping or hiking.

Gov. Ned Lamont announced a state of emergency due to dry weather conditions and the threat of additional fires.

Firefighters continue to battle wildfires across Connecticut as a state of emergency has been declared due to extreme dry weather conditions. The Hawthorne Fire, on Lamentation Mountain in Berlin, has spread and is now estimated around 107 acres.

Officials are again asking people to abide by the temporary flight restriction that's in order near the fire so it doesn't hamper operations.
