Russian President Vladimir Putin is hosting a summit of nearly two dozen non-Western world leaders in the Russian city of Kazan, an effort to snub Western leaders who tried to shut Russia out of the global economy after his invasion of Ukraine more than two years ago.

Representing 41.1% of the world’s population and 37.3% of its GDP, the bloc aims to counterbalance United States-led Western alliances.
