Penny Perry, an ex-casting director who had worked with Hallmark for almost a decade filed an age discrimination lawsuit against the media company on October 9, 2024, at Los Angeles Superior Court.

Alongside the comments on the talents' age, Perry claimed she was also pushed out of the company and unceremoniously fired in April after nine years. She is suing Hallmark's executives for wrongful termination, age and disability discrimination and defamation, People Magazine reported.

Hallmark Media has been accused of age discrimination and fabricating "happy endings" that are "made for TV only."

Our leading ladies are aging out. We need to find new talent to take their place,” Hamilton Daly is quoted as saying in the court documents.

The network denies “outrageous allegations” made by one of its former casting directors, who claims that an executive aimed to replace marquee “aging” stars like Lacey Chabert and Holly Robinson Peete.
