Midcap and smallcap stocks have taken even bigger hit.    The BSE Sensex fell 486.94 points, or 0.61 per cent, to 79,578.22. Midcap and smallcap indices plunged 2-5-3 per cent. IndusInd Bank and RBL Bank have plunged sharply following their quarterly results;

On the 30-share Sensex platform, HUL is the biggest loser, declining 6 per cent. Nestle, Airtel, Maruti, ITC, TCS are among the other losers

Despite mounting global factors, BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty climbs on recovery helped by local investors offsetting foreign investor offloading

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a muted start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 24,550 level, a premium of nearly 10 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.
